Progress Review Meeting & Training of QECs on 11th & 12th March, 2021 Organized by QAA-HEC at Agha Khan University, Karachi.

The meeting formal proceeding started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After that Deputy Director Quality Assurance Agency presented a welcome note and invited all Head of QECs to present and share their university performance during the period of 2018-19.
Head of QECs (list attached) briefly presented their universities performance in Focused group discussion and shared their concerns in conducting self-institutional performance evaluation.
After lunch, the second session started a brief slot was given to Aga khan University as Co-host of the event to share their experience and Journey of Academic Quality Improvement; Prof. Tashmin Khamis, Vice Provost, Quality, Teaching and Learning, Aga Khan University shared her insights in the development of AKU quality department and shared some challenges they faced and how they overcome it to develop a network of quality within their University.
The next session was hosted by the Deputy Director QAA_HEC as training of Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE). He emphasized on the importance of Quality assurance at university and the need for continuous improvements in the mechanism and approach for the evaluation of the standards on quality.

Day 2:

The second-day preceding started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Deputy Director QAA-HEC Mr. Muhammad Raza briefed all the participants about the revised IPE 9 Standards proposal via presentation. He shared general issues faced by universities during IPE self-reviews such as missing notifications, wrong MoVs. and repetitiveness of same evidence collection due to similar question in the previous IPE standards which created hassles for the QECs stakeholders for data collection in the university. The presenter involved all Head of QECs in focused group discussion activity. All Heads were divided in small groups and he shared IPE 9 standard documents among them. One group of senior member’s act as an evaluator. After grouping, every group studied their standard documents with annexures mentioned on charts. The core purpose of this activity was to brainstorm the issues and get feedbacks directly from the QECs regarding the new format of IPE to be introduced. The overall activity was very helpful to understand IPE process and complete the required documentation for review.
After lunch, the second session started as a training session on Compliance of MS/M.Phil. or equivalent and Ph.D. Review. Mr. Abaidullah, Deputy Director explained the process and shared general challenges faced by universities during the review. The core objective of this session was to assure compliance with the observations raised in Program Reviews for continuous quality enhancement (CQE). He guided how to fill review templates and trained how to review documents as a reviewer. University policies review and its implementation. He explained HEC policies regarding MS/M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in detail
After the training session, Dr. Carl Armhien, Provost, AKU thanked all the participant and gave ending speech while appreciating the effort of QAA-HEC in raising the standard of education quality in Pakistan through continuous improvement. At the end Certificates were distributed among the participants along with a group photo.
