Accreditation of MS Education Program on 3rd -4th October, 2019 – By National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
Sindh Madressatul Islam University Accreditation and Quality Enhancement Cell (AQEC) arranged a two days Accreditation visit for MS Education Program as per the guidelines of the NACTE on 3rd – 4th October, 2019. The panel consisted of Dr. Shamsa Aziz - Associate Professor / Chairperson, International Islamic University Islamabad & Dr. Muhammad Idris – Assistant Professor, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan as an external evaluators designated by NACTE and another panel from NACTE consisted of Dr. Irshad Ahmad Farrukh (Secretary NACTE) and Ms. Uzma Shakoor (Program Manager NACTE). Dr. Saima Baig, Director AQEC and Mr. Hamza Pasha, Assistant Director AQEC were the facilitators and further briefed about the schedules of the Accreditation activities to be followed.
Day-1 Thursday (3rd October 2019)
1. Orientation at Quaid e Azam HallThe sitting of the panel was arranged at Library Room # 4 & 4A which were reserved earlier for the panel to provide them a separate space in order to avoid any disturbance. The event started with the Orientation at Quaid e Azam Hall by Dr. Rakshanda Kaukab chairperson of education department with Dean, Director, Faculty, panel members and student, where she welcomed the panel and gave a brief introduction about the role and responsibilities of education department in this institution.
2. Meeting with HODEvaluation panel held a meeting with HOD of education dept. where they had a discussion regarding the distinctive characteristics and features of the NACTE accreditation and elaborated about the requirements, procedures and activities involved in the accreditation process. They also asked the HOD to fill the Performa prescribed by NACTE.
3. Meeting with StudentsEvaluation panel held Separate meeting with few Students of education department where they asked them to fill the prescribed Performa and discussed about the programs being offered, the progress they have experienced during their learning Journey and facilities being offered to them in order to enhance their knowledge.
4. Meeting with FacultySeries of meetings were held with the faculty members of education department (Dr. Munir Moosa, Dr. Ajab Lashari & Dr. Abdul Karim Suhag) individually with Evaluation panel to discusses the progress they have made in order to deliver the knowledge and increase the intellectuals of their students by using different teaching methods and techniques.
5. Lunch BreakLunch was arranged for the panel at SMI University Library Room # 4, food was served, while enjoying the meal the panel shared their experiences.
6. Meeting with AlumniAs the alumni of SMIU Ms. Mehwish (Employee of SMIU School) along with another alumnus were requested to share their experiences and meetings were held with Evaluation panel to discusses their learning experiences and the opportunities they found along with progress they have made in their career after gaining the education from SMI University.
7. Documents ReviewOn the first day of evaluation, the team of evaluators intensely reviewed document wise reports & annexures as required by the NACTE. As the evaluation was focused on proper inspection of all the procedures/processes involved in working along with the documented evidence to ensure that all processes are being carried out as per the guidelines of the HEC. Scrutiny of these document was a lengthy task and took substantial time on both days.
8. University VisitEvaluation was not confined to faculty or students only, it included a thorough inspection of the facilities being offered at the institution. Hence, university tour was arranged for the External Evaluators where they visited different class rooms, Library, Main Lab and different student’s facilities. The Panel was satisfied with the facilities being offered by SMI University
Day 2 Friday (4th October 2019)
1. Documents ReviewThe second day started with the scrutiny of documents as per the 29 templates recommended by NACTE. All the documents for the remaining standards were reviewed with the reference documents. The Evaluation panel worked separately for some time and noted their reservations to be asked from the representatives for further clarity.
2. Lunch BreakLunch was arranged for the panel at SMI University Library Room # 4, food was served, while enjoying the meal the panel shared their experiences.
3. Visit to the SMIU MuseumPanel visit was also arranged to Quaid e Azam museum at SMI Main building where the Historic valuable things belong to our leader has been kept in safe custody of this institution. Visitor paid their heartiest regards on experiencing the legacy of our leader.
4. Class Room ObservationPanel visited education class rooms while the class were going on to record teacher’s observations and prepare a report on NACTE Performa. Afterword they shared the student Performa to students in order to get their responses as well.
5. Joining of Second Panel from NACTESecond panel form NACTE consisted of Dr. Irshad Ahmad Farrukh (Secretary NACTE) and Ms. Uzma Shakoor (Program Manager NACTE) visited to ensure that the accreditation process has been smoothly completed without any hassle.
5. Exit Meeting with the Honorable Vice ChancellorIn exit meeting with Worthy Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh all the panel members Prof. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Farrukh (Secretary, NACTE), Ms. Uzma Shakoor (Program Manager, NACTE), Dr. Shamsa Aziz (NACTE -External Evaluator), Dr. Muhammad Idris (NACTE -External Evaluator), Dr. Syeda Rakhshanda Kaukab (chairperson- Education Department), and Dr. Saima Baig (Director-AQEC), were present. Externals at the exit meeting shared their reviews of the overall activity and appreciated the academic structure of this institution. Further they also highlighted the importance of QEC in university and their role in uplifting the standards of education. Honorable Vice Chancellor shared valuable ideas regarding age of retirement which shall be 65 for non-teaching and 72 for teaching staff and suggested to secretary NACTE should work on it. In the End Honorable Vice Chancellor welcomed their remarks and thanked them for their Visit.
